http://analteredspirit.blogspot.com/

I am just loving working with the talented Sketch Artist Amarilys Doria!! Her sketches are wonderful and I get to work with them every single month!!! Woo Hoo!!!!

It's so funny the full circle I've come with sketches, once upon a time I absolutely hated and wanted nothing to do with them, and quite frankly had NO IDEA how to really even use them......
But after a few years of playing with them and finding some really FAV sketch artist (Amarilys included) I have a profound love for them!!! I really enjoy using a sketch to get my mojo going, or when I feel like all my layout's are starting to look the same. I have even found more recently if it's a really good sketch that I'm wanting to use it more than once....I guess it's a good thing they are meant to be fliped, flopped and rotated!!!

Ok and now I'm rambling......Are you ready for the good stuff ???? Me Too!!

Here is the gorgeous ScrapThat! Sketch created by the talented Amarilys

Without further ado, here is my take on this gorgeous sketch using the fabulous
July ScrapThat! Kit
"Summer In My Garden"

This is a layout of my middle daughter from a few years back, I've scraped it last year, but wanted to use it again for this page as it matched so well with the Fabscraps Organic Collection found in ScrapThat!'s July Kit!

Those of you who follow my my know that I had a scrappy epiphany!!! And I am now irresistably in love!! With white acrylic paint and gesso that is.....

I have just had so much fun, playing and discovering and getting all messy this past month. I feel like a kid with a set of finger paints, tuning out the rest of the world and just creating to my hearts content! I have always loved scrapping, but you know how with anything we love in life, we still have down moments with it...I was begining to feel this with my scrapping and my new discovery has just left me in love all over again!!

So there I go rambling again....

Like I mentioned before I used
ScrapThat!'s July Kit
"Summer In My Garden"

It's chock full of yummy Fabscraps Organic Collection papers and other yummy goodies.
I used my brand new Prima Invild Bolme Distressing Tool to grunge up the edges of my paper, which anyone who follows my work, knows I'm a huge fan of doing! I love grunge frayed edge paper, the grungier (is that even a word?!?!) the better! During my distressing process I tried to mimic the tears in the sketch above.

Here's a close up on the right side of the Prima Flower Vine which is also found in the July kit. I placed them over a bed of burlap and cheescloth, both shredded to oblivion!! You can see I used some white acrylic paint to to white wash the flower vines, cheesecloth and burlap.....it just seems to tone everything down a bit and give it all a more suttle look.

This a close up of the left side, it featues a few more yummy flowers layered over my pretty picket fence (which is a dream of mine to have in my own front yard one day by the way) I am just loving this new hot trend of fences, I can't get enough of them, I find myself wanting to use them over and over and over again!! Along with my white acrylic and gesso, which you can see I gently dry brushed over anything on my layout that would stand still long enough to without the attack of my paintbrush and creativeness!!
This is a close up of the top right corner, I used a Prima Resin Window, which can be found in the July ScrapThat! Kit, like the flower vine and fence below, I layered the window in burlap and cheesecloth, topped off with a delicate teal flower!

The 2 close up's above are side views of my page, I tend to have very dimensional pages and layers on most of my layout's and I really wanted to showcase them to you. From this view you can also get a real idea of what my paper edge distressing looks like! It just really adds such a nice touch and detail to your projects!!

Thank you very much for stopping by, I hope you loved my page and if you are not already playing with wet mediums, I hope you are inspired to get yours out and just begin to play. If you don't try you will never know, and I am a perfect example of this when it comes to trying the gesso and acrylics on my layouts, they scared me for so long and once I tried it, I was surprised how unbelievably easy it was!!! So get out your paints, paste's and sprays and get busy playing!!!!

Happy Scrapping
